John, hopefully we get some good snow in the next few days as forcasted. How far would the ride be? Is there fuel stations along the way? Thanks.

Chuck,

Can you lead the Nome Creek ride on the 14th if it is cancelled on the 7th? :needsnow:

Lets see how the snow goes, meet at Chtanika and go from there. Maybe Nome Creek, maybe from Chatanika out to the Pipeline, maybe ......

If there is snow I'll lead a ride somewhere

micorps: length will depend on where we go, gas stations :rolf: bring extra fuel... any option out of Chatanika will be limited to whatever gas you have with you.

Hahaha alright appreciate it. I just have a 121" so carry fuel would be difficult unless i put it in my lap or maybe fill some camelbaks and throw it on my back. j/k

You might try one of these: http://www.tourbuddy.com/

I have one on my Summit 700. I think it holds about 2.5 gallons. Installation was easy.

i appreciate the info, I had to leave my info since there was no answer. I am surprised how reasonably the auxillery tanks are priced.

Of course there is nothing stopping some of us from gathering for breakfast at Chatanika even if we don't ride. Still dancing :fluffly: and getting a little cloudy, few scattered flakes(not sure I would call them flakes, wishful thinking)....come on snow! We had tour buddys on our old sleds, sure was a lifesaver a time or two.

I just ordered a tour buddy, shipping is expensive, but almost 3 extra gallons of fuel is a necessity here.

For no accumulation in Today's forecast it's sure starting to accumulate out here in the Goldstream valley! Whoever is doing the snow dance keep it up! If it did this for a couple days straight we'd be there!

Tony, AKA Alaskan Polar Bear, donated 4 - 121 short tracks for the loading ramps. I was planning to go to Cleary Summit and Chatanika tomorrow AM and install them, if the snow keeps up I may also try one out and unload my sled and take a ride around.

Course I probable won't make Chatanika until closer to 10:00 AM, have to stop and get screws and fender washes and figured I'd do the one at Cleary first.

Back on topic..

Its suppose to snow more tonight and through Friday night with a high of 7 above Saturday.

So mark your calendar for Breakfast at Chatanika Lodge Sat and hope we get another foot (or 10) of snow ...

What time will the ride likely start on Sat? I have to drop hubby off for a 7 a.m. flight and if it snows another 6+ inches, I thought I might head out.

About how long of a drive from Fairbanks is Chatanika - about an hour?

thanks,

Lodge opens at 9:00, breakfast, so I'd figure around 10:00 departure time.

FB to Chatanika is about 45 minutes or less depending on the driver :shockedeye:
