Quartz Lake Jan 5th

#1 Post by john »

Darrell,

Your listed as ride leader for next Saturdays run at Quartz Lake. Lots of questions today on the ride.

Where to, from the lake or are we doing lots of circle race track practice

Is it an easy ride with hills or flats ?

Thanks

Well one thing for sure there won’t be any Brewery along the way on this ride. I do have an ice fishing hut for the Mrs. to use while I’m out and about. The on the question where are we going. Looks like a choice between running the river or the winter trail up Liscum creek. Since I don’t how much snow is in the area I was going to try and find out after everyone comes back from New Years. So ask any one you know that rides the Goodpaster area and post it here. I will update as learn any thing new

The Quartz lake run this Sat will meet at 11:00 am at ice hut D11. You may unload in the parking lot and snowgo over to the hut or use the ice road (maybe 4 wheel drive) around the east side of the lake that ends in a parking area. D11 should be the last ice state ice fishing hut you come to from the ramp.
The ride will depent who shows. If persons present are ok with river travel we could try to get to Volkmar lake if that's a no go we can run the Winter trail up Liscom Creek to the river turn around and come back same trail. Both trails are about 30 miles one way.

Volkmar run would be flat with possible jump up and off the river bank. Some chance of overflow on both trails. Winter trail has a hill on it but nothing like the pipeline hill in Fox.
