Sunday Margaret and I drove to 66 mile Steese to see if there is any more snow there than here on Cleary Summit. In a word, NO!!!!!! We stopped at the new parking area on the US Creek Road at mile 57. The road was completely rebuilt this summer all the way into Nome Creek. The parking area has nice new outhouses and an loading ramp. The road now starts on the east side of US Creek. While there isn't much snow there, there were sled tracks heading up the road. I'm sure you could drive up it as well.

57 miles up the Steese Highway to the US Creek Road Trailhead. On a good snow year we would ride up the US Creek Road 9 miles into Nome Creek and the White Mountain National Recreation Area. With the little bit of snow we have now you can probably drive into Nome Creek and if there isn't more snow there than at the trailhead it probably isn't worth the effort other than going for a drive.
