Probably head to borealis cabin then up to windy gap and back if folks are up for about 80 miles. If not we can do a shorter loop. So far the weather is looking nice. Should be plenty of snow, but some fresh would be nice. :needsnow:

Be nice 72 mile ride :)

Sounds like a good plan! I just remember about a month ago the other John and myself rode up from wickersham dome trail. We turned left on big bend just before Borealis cabin and I would say about 5 to 7 miles west from where we turned off there was a small creek/ditch with no water.. just a trench. It was about 4 to 5ft wide and about 4ft deep, and we couldn't cross it. I rode over this last March but never really noticed it, must of been full with overflow ice. So don't know how much trouble this is going to be or if anyone from the club has crossed it this year? Maybe someone built a snow bridge?! Not sure, anyone have an idea?

Humm,

Big Bend hasn't been broken or groomed this season yet per BLM, so it'll be interesting :)

Can always make our own diversions or go back towards Colorado Ck if need be. In years past I've had to jump off the trail and go down in the valley to get around that, if its the same creek I'm thinking of.

BLM-White Mountains National Recreation Area
19 hours ago
The recent rain and warm daytime temp's have left the White Mountains trails rock hard, especially at higher elevations. The access road and parking area at Wickersham Dome Trailhead are super slippery as well. Be careful out there and get your trip off to a good start!

I'll keep that in mind, longer tracks may need ice scratchers. So you're not coming John? Anyone else plan going to be on this ride so I can get and idea of how many people I should be keeping an eye out for at Hilltop? Weather is still looking good for this ride, possibly a little below zero in the morning, but warming up to above zero during the day.

I have the on call phone this week and will not make it. I don't know what it is about the white mountain ride. Eight years and have not made it on one yet.

Yeah it should be interesting. That pic from Nome almost scared me, I was thinking there's no way that's in the whites! So looks like about 6 people so far, maybe a few more will show that morning!

Me, Shawn and Mike will be there. We plan on being up at Hill Top a little early to get breakfast. Probably around 8-8:30 am.
