I was considering putting an mbrp silencer on my sled for wieght
reduction and power gain. An employee at Northern Power Sports
says that is not a good idea? Any thoughts? I have a 800 Mountain Cat.

Doesn't anyone have an answer for this questions. Myself, I have no idea, never considered one.

A properly designed silencer should have zero effect on performance, other than a possible weight savings. An aftermarket unit might make the sled too loud for some folks though. 8)

I won't get one. At least not that brand. They do save weight but are too loud, maybe not to you as the operator, but to the public they leave the wrong impression. Starting Line Products has a product line which will take some weight off and are nearly stock in sound levels. It's already happening in the lower 48 where you must run the stock silencer/muffler. Noise doesn't mean power.
