John,

You are listed as the ride leader for that ride. If you would like me to lead, I am able and willing.

That has been true for three years now, John! Does Compeau's know we want to use their lot that day?

For everyone elses benifit, here’s the plan. Depart at 1000 from Compeau’s. You will need a Ft. Wainwright Recreation Access permit. (If you don’t have one, they are issued free at the office at the front gate Ft. Wainwright. The only thing required is a picture ID.) We will be riding down the Chena and the Tanana Rivers and go into the Tanana Flats by way of Clear Creek. We will ride to Clear Creek Butte and lunch there. Bring your own lunch! There is no place to buy anything out there. We should be back before 4:00 pm.

The Tanana Flats is genuine wilderness. There is nothing out there. It will be a nice, easy ride, about a 60 mile round trip. The last time I was out there, most of the trails were in pretty good shape. Because of the low snowfall this year, you can ride anywhere off the trails out there without worrying about getting stuck, but it is pretty bumpy off the trails.

Have to talk to my boss about that :)

I haven't talked to Compeaus about it, so maybe a call to Craig.

Very good.

I was at Compeau's last week and talked to Craig. We are OKed to use his lot Saturday with the usual cautions: Don't block the path from the river or access to show room.

See you Saturday.

You are aware that the temps are estimated to be a high of -14 f° and maybe colder ...

FST official ride canceled at -10 f°, of course that doesn't mean we can't ride :)

I plan on being at Compeau's to lead the ride if it is above -20. Last year we went out at -17 and generally had a good time. I don't ride below -20.

The forecast for tomorrow is not good. Just to make things clear, decision time is 0900 tomorrow. If it is below -20 at the Airport at 0900, the ride is canceled.
