What GPS unit to buy?
I'm new to the idea of using a GPS on my sled and relatively new to sledding in the Fairbanks area. I see all the GPS map data has been posted on this forum, which is awesome, but was hoping for a recommendation on a nice GPS unit to buy that can read that data. Sorry if this seems like an ignorant quesiton - I've never used anything but a regular car-based GPS.

Re: What GPS unit to buy?
Either a Garmin (my preferred brand) or a Megellan would work, any hand held unit that can store map data.
The maps loaded on the site are available in the GPX or text format that should be usable on any hand held GPS.
Go by either the Sportsman Warehouse or Beaver Sports and talk to the guys at the counter about their units. It's best to find a unit that your comfortable with as far as the way you can switch between functions and its screen for your vision.
