Snowmachines: Weapons of Mass Destruction?

#1 Post by john »

Although the title is probably grabbing some of you in a tender spot, this is really a good report on the low impact of sleds in Alaska. It was completed last year by Kim Doudna and Chris Malmberg for their English 111 class. I was informed by Kim's dad that the report actually converted some of their classmates to a more positive view on sleds.

Worth a read http://www.snowtravelers.org/files/Report.pdf

There is little here that most of us don't already know, but it was good to see something like this written for non-snowmachiners.

True, but its good info for the new riders and interesting knowledge to have when confronted by the anti-snowmachiners in the community.

I remember when Kathryn Tietz did her study for her thesis and a lot of folks got upset when she showed that "hikers" did more damage then sledders :)
