Overkill on DNR's part. I've hunted off the Rex and know the rigs that are making those big deep ruts are the Nadwel's, I watched one get stuck and then go around and create another 2 foot trench with their 6 foot tall tires.
Unfortunately DNR will set the 1,500 # limit which also limits some ATV's and track rigs that don't damage the trails, especially compared to a 10,000 pound Nadwel.
If they'd set a standard based on pounds per square inch of ground pressure rather than vehicle weight they'd allow more folks access and guarantee better trails.
