MacLaren Conditions

#1 Post by john »

This is from Allen and Suzie at MacLaren
Hello everyone,

Well we finely got some snow, we received about 2 feet in all of really fluffy snow. We are of coarse excited about getting the new snow but we do have some sad new to report at the same time.

Since the snow we received was so light and fluffy you can imagine what the wind did to it.

So here is the breakdown on the trail situation.

Seven Mile and Maclaren River Road have not been touched due to not enough base to cover the rocks.

The Denali Hwy from Cantwell to Brushkana is not too bad. From Brushkana to 62 mile is pretty much blown completely clear. From 62 to 20 mile is pretty good shape. From 20 mile (Tangle Lakes) to Paxson it’s not great. There is nothing but bare tundra and pavement, to complicate this, there are big drifts across the trail so it is not passable by a vehicle.

I wish that we had better trail conditions to report, but Mother Nature seems to be very much in control here.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.
