From McLaren Folks
Well it seems the cold snap is over, for now anyway. From -52 to +20 in a couple of days, quiet the temperature change!! With the warm came about 6 inches of snow. The trail report has not changed much due to the extreme cold, hopefully the trail crew will be able to get out soon and get some major work done on the Lake Louise trail. T’is the season!!!! Time for those long days grooming and the longer nights trying to get the trails in great condition.

Paxson to the Maclaren Valley

The ever changing trail between Paxson and the Maclaren Valley. Lots of snow but lots of wind. The trail is hard packed to mile 20, then the Tangle drifts start. A big gnarly one at mile 20, it has stakes marking this giant drift, watch for it. Then the guard rails, as always are drifted. The trail from 22 on is in great shape, some drifts at 29-31 mile where the trail is still high and wind plays tricks with hidden drifts.

Maclaren Valley to Cantwell

In good shape, Cantwell got a lot of snow so it should help with the pack on the trail. This trail has gotten a lot of fresh snow on the Cantwell side and there has been traffic on it, lots of Mushers and a few machines. Around Mile 60 you will really see a difference in snow depth with at least a foot and ½ of snow deep on the trail.

7 Mile Trail

This trail is in fantastic shape all the way in and through the Glacier Gap at mile 30 on the Denali Trail. Beautiful and awesome riding, this has become a favorite of the novice to intermediate riders.

Maclaren Glacier Trial

The trail has had some traffic on it, it has not been groomed with the PB, however it has a really great base trail. It is hard packed and no open holes in the Maclaren.

The Mac-Su Loop

Still in good shape, 110 miles of river riding. . This is a rugged trail, not to be attempted by novice riders. The section through the canyon is getting really narrow so you might have to go around that spot. There is some overflow, not bad, but enough where you will need to be cautious.

The Lake Louise/Maclaren Trial

Hopefully we will get some work done on this trail this month. No one has been on this trail because the snow has been marginal in spots; with this fresh snow work should begin on this soon.

Take Care and we look forward to seeing you on the trail!!!!

CAUTION: There are lots of caribou and moose in the area, please drive with care.
