We had 7 riders for this ride, and some of us covered 75 miles in two days of riding. Fri. the 7th. me, Tom Siebel and his wife Anne took the Pipeline from our camp on Summit Lake to the Arctic Man area. We rode up towards the Gulkana Glacier, stopping at the footbridge over Phelan Creek. On our way back Dave Oliver and his wife Ingrid meet up with us, so all 5 of us rode back to camp together. Crossing Gunn Creek was easy, Tom wadded across first, and it was less than knee deep. Later that evening John and Trish Johnston got into camp, and joined in at the campfire. Sat. 8th. was a lot cooler, so we all put on warm cloths, and grabbed raingear. The plan was to take Lee's trail down to the fish viewing platform, take fish Lake trail to the pipeline, and on to Meiers Lake Roadhouse. Everything went as planned, except the trail from the Pipeline to Meiers, to wet and hadn't been used. We got to Meiers, but had to ride on the highway for about a mile. On the way back a storm was brewing, and hit full force just as we got into camp. Sun. 9th. we broke camp and headed our separate ways. It was a great get-together, in some of Alaska's most beautiful mountains. I hope we can all do it again. Stoney :fluffly:
