After meeting up for breakfast, 14 riders left the trailhead at 10:30 and 20 above temps. When we dropped down into Wickersham Creek valley, things cooled off to about 5 above. Wickersham Creek had a little overflow, but nothing bad. We worked our way down to Beaver Creek, it was frozen up fine. On to Fossil Creek trail we went, planning to make a loop from Fossil Gap, to Windy Creek trail, down Fossil Creek to Fossil Gap. From there it was to be the same trails back to the trailhead. We started in on Fossil Gap over to Caribou Bluff Cabin. As we were all getting turned around, Phillip Maxim started having problems overheating. When I saw I had nobody behind, I rode back, met up with John J who had a radio and called Shawn M. Phillip was now on the end of a tow rope. When we all got out on Beaver Creek, it was decided 7 riders would head back, 7 riders would continue the loop. I was leading the group doing the loop, John J the ones in tow, and heading back. We made Wolf Run Cabin, took a break and got on the Windy Creek Trail. We made it over and down to Windy Gap Cabin, and met the same 3 guys that we had seen at the Caribou Bluff Cabin. We followed their trail they had just smoothed over with their Siglan type sleds. It's getting dark now so we didn't stop much, and picked up our pace. We got back to the trailhead at 7:00 pm, still 20 above. Other than one little overheating problem, it was a GREAT ride. Stoney
