Ride Report: Chena Lakes, December 7th (Sunday)

We had 11 machines show up. A couple of them even rode double. Me, Mike C. and Tom and his wife Anne, were the only ones that trailered over. Everyone else rode their snow machines from their houses. The trails consisted of borough trails that had just been rolled and packed. Sloughs, the big Chena Lakes ditch, four-wheeler trails that don't have enough snow yet to fill in the ruts and narrow dog-musher trails. A new trail now detours over Potlatch Creek, because the old bridge is unusable.

When we stopped to take a lunch break, Nick Billstrom had a nice little camp fire in no time and everyone was able to warm up. It was so nice I had a hard time having Nick to cover it up so we could get going. Nick, a new member, had all of his exhaust springs come off of his header pipe. He removed the whole exhaust system from his machine along with Steve Dellinger. They recovered the springs, had the whole exhaust system put back into place and was ready to ride in no time. Steve's foreman, Rurik, is racing in the Iron Dog this year with his father, "Sonny Linder".

It was a great day, good weather, and we all made it back home. :fluffly: STONEY
