Summit anyone?

#1 Post by billy6384 »

I'm going to Summit this weekend with a few people from work. And also tow in a couple buddies on snowboards to goof around on the hills there. Mostly going to enjoy a nice warm day and hopefully enjoy some sunshine. Don't plan on going too far back since I'm towning snow boarders. Anyone else is welcome to tag along! Going to meet them at the Eielson front gate at 6am and head to Summit from there. Join the party! :singing:

Depends on the weather, and a decent updated weather report.

Where you going to camp at? Take off from etc?
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I've only put in at a pull off point about 2-3 miles north of the Lodge. And I've only been on the east side of the road.

It's 23 above and blowing and snowing hard up here on Cleary.

Sunday and Monday were the best two days of riding we're ever had at Summit. Sunday we rode north on the pipe from Waters Edge and rode in the Hoodoos east of Isabel. We followed the race course to the start and then played our way back to First Aid and played on the west side of it. There is a good base with new snow on top of it. Margaret was able to get around just fine on her 121X1 1/2. We then headed down the pipe to Paxson. Both trails to the Lodge, north and south are fine.

Monday we rode just south east and a little north east of Waters Edge on the east side of the pipe. The hills on the south side of Gunn Creek were great.

We are just going for Saturday if weather permits. And was hoping to park down on the pad they had all plowed out for the camping area for arctic man. Hopefully it hasn't snowed and blown in too much!

That was our plan for our first night down there last Thursday. We stopped at the Richardson Monument to look it over and it looked like it had blown in so we went on to Waters Edge. You can park at the Monument, DOT keeps that plowed. The pipeline and the Gunn Flats all the way up to the finish line are very smooth. Usually all beat to heck and bumpy after the race.
