White Mountains

#1 Post by txcanyon »

My friend's wife wants to get out on a sled this weekend so we are thinking of heading up Steese to the White Mountain area. Anybody have any tidbits of info for up there? I've seen the Recreation area map that shows the trails and whatnot, but we are looking for some off trail action too. Is there anyplace where we could find some relatively deep stuff? Should we stop off at the first place we find or move farther up into the recreation area?

Go to 57.4 mile Steese US Creek Unload at Steese pull out snow Take road in at 6mile on left side below road should be some play snow Then to 7 miles in There is a T
Take left to Opher Campground The ditches should be fun unless they have been used
Just befiore Opher it gets open If not wind blown there is some play area on both sides of the road
Dont bother going towards Prindle at T in Road as it will be wind blown
