We will meet and proceed from Chena landing at 9:30. The guru of thre flats, Paul, will lead us on a very interesting ride. After which, we will have a small cook-out under one of the pavillions. John can you bring the cat kitchen?

The trails that were closed on our January Tanana Flats ride are all open now so it will be a different and hopefully better/longer ride than last time.

For those of you who have not been in the Flats, it is a combination of narrow trails and big wide open fields. It is true wilderness with no food or gas available. The ride will be about 50 miles and five hours and suitable for novice riders.

When we are in the woods, the trails are narrow and twisty and there is no getting off of them. When not in the woods, the trails go across big, flat, open, frozen swamps that I expect will have over two feet of unpacked snow on them. Those who have trail-only machines will have a nice trail ride. If you have a little more track you will probably want to be off in the powder at least half the time. Personally, I no longer own a trail machine so the question never comes up.

Once again here I go asking questions about the upcoming ride...sorry for all the questions, we are just new to the area and not knowing the area makes it difficult. Is this ride going to be ok for a new rider on a Yamaha venture GT? It is a two up sled with a 144 inch track. Where is the landing in reference to the Pump house restaurant? Thanks for the help

The Venture GT would be fine for this ride and this is a good beginners ride. This will also show you some great local riding areas you can explore close to Fairbanks, bring a GPS if you have one. It helps out in the Flats where one can get lost :) Of course our fearless leader wouldn't do that to us... Would You larry

The landing is past the Pump House on Chena Pump. Drive past the Pump House a few miles and you'll see a park on the left, if you get to the base of the first hill you've just past it.

No promises on my rides. Getting lost is always an option. But, the grub should be good when we are done.
