Dec 22 Ride

#1 Post by john »

here's hoping for warming temps.
Friday Night - Clear. Fog overnight. Low of -26F with a windchill as low as -45F. Winds from the NE at 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday - Clear. Fog early. High of -15F. Winds from the NE at 5 to 10 mph.
The ride will be canceled if its -15 below or colder at 9:00 AM @ the Airport.

So let's hope the predictions above change.

Its not too bad as long as you have warm gear. Rode at -20 a few times last year.

Got to agree on the temps issue, being to cold that is :)

The club use to use -10 below as a cut off but the last couple of years have used -20 below. So I figured -15 below was a good cut off point.

With that said, I may be at the pull out even at -20 below, just to get some sled time. Love my heated seat :)

Hey John,

Its 13 below up here. You could trailer to here, DOT has cleared the parking lot by our loading ramp on the Fairbanks Creek Road. You'd want to stay high as the Poker weather station says -49 and it was 40 at Fox when I stopped there a couple of hours ago.

Not looking good for tomorrow :(
SATURDAY...MOSTLY CLEAR. HIGHS 20 TO 35 BELOW...EXCEPT AROUND
5 BELOW ON THE HILLS. NORTHEAST WINDS TO 10 MPH.
Temps may rise Sunday or Monday and I'm thinking about running up to Cleary Sunday or Monday morning, maybe go to Chatanika first for breakfast and then back to Cleary for a ride.

Anyone else interested in going Sunday or Monday if we cancel tomorrow AM ?

That sounds like a good plan. I'll be there when you are. Either day.

I'm pulling the plug early.

It's currently -42 below and I doubt it'll get a whole lot warmer today :(

Let's plan a Monday Ride. Check out

Thanks Chuck, the extra driving time limits me in going to Cleary today, but we'll be at Chatanika Monday and maybe go back to Cleary or even 42 mile if the temps and folks are up for it.
