Upcoming club rides. Who's got the skinny on the trip, when do we go, where do we meet ?

November 26th Ride: Who wants to ride?

#1 Post by hvhavel »

I don't think we can answer this question until closer to the ride, but Brenda at Mt. Aurora Fairbanks Creek Lodge was wondering about breakfast - we had a really low turnout last year. They did a full buffet, which for the turn-out wasn't cost effective.

Thoughts?

Dave,

Sorry but I am not on the board anymore and am not sure of who did the ride scheduling this year.

Dave,

I've made note of it and we'll punt.

Sorry about that!

Anyone else want to lead this ride? And do we have enough snow...

Heather (and all),

Ask Brenda if we can do individual orders this trip. If nothing else, I'll go out for breakfast at least.

I'll lead since I'm not riding this Saturday and the predictions are for -3 to -10, heat wave to what were having :)

One draw back might be snow levels, they claim its suppose to snow more between now and then, we'll see if we get enough to ride on.

How deep's the snow ? Deep enough I'd say,(but i'm getting hard up here.) but temp's that a different thing...
Now i see the cleary DOT site is down. If we get a strong enough inversion i'd ride the ridges. Does anyone know a temp weather site off the valley floor?
I'm in the hills off Chena hot spring and its -30 now, so this is a deep cold. what temps are you seeing and where at?
Oh and other news, before the cold snap set in heard there was a trail over to the flats from Rosie creek area and air boat trail where good running.
Also a crew run from Manley to Tanana.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Hey Darrell my neighbor Tom has a weather station up here that you can check as well as the DOT RWIS SITE:

Here's a weather station on top of Caribou Peak just north of Chatanika at 2517 feet elevation.

It's 22 below here at our place. I went out with our neighbors for about an hour yesterday. They just bought new sleds Saturday and we took a little tour up here. The snow up here is enough for riding. The Fairbanks Creek road has received enough snow since it was plowed to be rideable as well. Hopefully we'll get an inversion so it won't be so cold by weekend.

Were suppose to be getting more snow, I hope we do.

The temps are the biggie right now. I haven't seen above -30 below for a week, if the weekend turns out as predicted

.FRIDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOWS NEAR 30 BELOW.
.SATURDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY. HIGHS NEAR 15 BELOW.

Not sure I'll be leaving the house, let alone leading a ride.

They got a Ski Doo Skandic Wide Track 600 liquid & a Polaris 550 IQ SHIFT Fan.

Our machines are doing fine so I don't anticipate updating any time soon. We're happy with our Ski Doos so would probably stay with them when and if..................

12 below up here this morn and very windy. Don't know the wind speed as our anemometer either blew away or is frozen and not turning.

From Brenda RE: Breakfast before the ride -

For Saturday I can do scrambled eggs as they are ordered. And have cinnamon rolls, muffins hot out of the oven as well as a pot of sausage gravy with biscuits on the side... Coffee is always on.

Hope this warm weather stays!
