November 12 Chatanika Ride.

#1 Post by cleary »

Unless we get a bunch of snow before the November 12th Chatanika Ride it isn't going to happen as there is very little snow there.
There is an event at the lodge that evening. This is to raise money for the Children's Christmas Party as well as trail grooming out here.
We weren't able to get the poly drums in the ad.

Hi David,

Yes, we have received some more snow though not a lot. I'm going to ride to Chatanika tomorrow and check it out. I will decide by tomorrow eve whether it's a go or not.

I just put 50 miles on checking out the conditions from here to Chatanika and on to the pipeline. Not enough snow, the ride is cancelled. For those who might come up here to Cleary Summit to ride the Fairbanks Creek Road has been plowed. I'm afraid to look at my scags. If you want to go out the Circle Trail you should trailer to the trail head. I haven't checked out the other trails up here so I don't know what shape they're in. We have more snow up here than in the valley so they should be OK but probably not broken out.

Bummer Chuck. I was hoping we would have our first ride of the year. My son and I had a great time on a ride you hosted last year.

Hi James,

What we could do if anyone is interested is break out the trails up here on Cleary Summit. We could meet at the Chatanika Lodge for breakfast and then trailer up here to the parking lot at the intersection of the Fairbanks Creek and Fish Creek Roads. That's the parking lot where the clubs unloading ramp is just below the Fairbanks Creek Lodge.

If anyone would like to do this let me kinow.

I would like to go Chuck. Since I didn't think we were going, I volunteered to watch my younger son whose 10 years-old. I may bring him either as a rider, or on his own machine. He been riding since he could walk, and kept right behind me on numerous long rides last year.

Still meeting at 9am at the lodge?

Yes, the Chatanika Lodge at 9, I just talked to Shirley to make sure. For all that show up don't unload your sleds at the Lodge. After breakfast we'll trailer back up here to Cleary Summit for the ride.

It was just David and I but we had a good ride. Put on over 50 miles between Gilmore Dome and the Old Murphy Dome Road. Snow was good up here and we have about 4 inchs of new stuff since then. The November 29 ride should be fine snow wise. I'm going to be tied up with visiting friends then or would volunteer to lead it.
