Project Description: The North America Outdoor Institute, in partnership with Skidoo/Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP,) Polaris, Arctic Cat and Yamaha snowmobile manufacturers, as well as partners with the Alaska Avalanche Information and Southeast Centers, proposes to conduct a minimum of six community education programs throughout Alaska to test and demonstrate the effectiveness and power of incorporating modern pop culture in innovative, interactive snowmobile safety training games to attract snowmobile enthusiasts of all abilities to safe rider programs.

A preliminary trial of this program during Arctic Man 2012 showed that those not typically interested in participating in safety education programs were attracted by innovative pop culture games that offer incentives of prizes and unique training opportunities. Proposed programs will be held in Anchorage, Mat- Su Valdez, Fairbanks, Kenai/Homer, Valdez, Cordova, Juneau, Ketchikan and outlying communities by request (based on available funding.) The goal of this project is to increase the number of trained riders and advance the development of an Alaska Snowmobile Safe Rider program in the spirit of the National Motorcycle Safe Rider program.

Project Location: Anchorage, Mat-Su, Fairbanks, Kenai, Homer, Valdez, Cordova, Juneau, Haines, Ketchikan, other Alaskan communities by request (based on available funding)
