(This is a reprint from Eric Troyer email notice)

Send you comments today, I already sent mine asking them to make considerations for the 100 Mile Loop.
Deadline: Comments need to be sent by Monday, February 28

The other issue regards the 100-Mile Loop Trail and the proposed reroute of ARR tracks through North Pole. The reroute proposal would reduce the number of road crossings (which is a good thing) and “may include realigning this section of track on or along the Tanana River Levee.” The route of the 100-Mile Loop Trail is currently along that section of levee. The ARR apparently knows of the trail’s existence but does not mention it in the documents it has released for public comment. Therefore, if the reroute is approved the ARR may not make room for the trail or make plans for such things as trail crossings.

The deadline for comment on this issue is Monday, February 28. Written comments may be e-mailed to public_comment@akrr.com or mailed to Alaska Railroad Capital Projects, P.O. Box 107500, Anchorage, AK 99510-7500. To find out more about this project, see the ARR Fairbanks and Interior projects page (http://tinyurl.com/492d7un) and scroll down to “North Pole Road/Rail Crossing Reduction (FARLR Phase One).”

This should be in the agenda for the coming General Membership meeting.
