WOW! We actually got snow!

#1 Post by hvhavel »

The Two River's area got a healthy amount of snow this weekend. It looks VERY nice...

Maybe my snowmachine fix just got bumped up in priority - I gotta talk to the "accountant" (aka husband)

Isn't this one of those "easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission" situations? :angle:

More on the way
.. Winter Storm Watch in effect from late tonight through Friday
evening...

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from late tonight through Friday
evening.

Snow will begin around midnight tonight and continue through
Friday evening. The total snow accumulation will be 4 to 8
inches. Above treeline the winds will gust to 30 mph with blowing
snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means that there is a potential for
hazardous winter weather that may impact travel or outdoor
activity.

We got a foot or so up here with 50 MPH winds. Much drifting. Went out with the groomer Tuesday and had engine trouble. Was able to limp home. Haven't fixed it yet.

Good luck on the fix. Spent 8 hours on the Iron Dog trail today, I am wore out but feeling good.

Who needs Cantwell, we have the Flats this year and I can use all that truck gas for my sleds :supperhappy:

Chuck what up with the bobcat trying to clear the Fairbanks creek road? It sure made a mess of your trail on that road.
Came over from Iowa dome to the fish creek and up the old F.E. power line.
Don't think I would try to go up hill at the dredge, we got stuck coming down the hill, snow was deep.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Hey Darrell

Someone appears to be living at the old McCarty Mine. They've been able to drive in until this last snow and wind. Whatever they got plowed probably blew in last night as we've had gusts to 58 here at our house. Can't tell how much snow we got last night because of the wind. The Skiland Road is drifted shut right now.

I think I got the groomer fixed. I put a new fuel cap, fuel pump and a bunch of diesel conditioner on and in it. It was probably the fuel cap not venting and it didn't occur to me pop it off out on the trail so I limped home. Seems to be running fine now. I'll wait until the wind quits to do any grooming.

Did you go down toward Chatanika at all? I imagine there's bad drifting on that trail.

After the Fe line we came back to ski land so no on the Chat run. Great to hear you got the groomer going. The trail was good over to second fort knox road. Hill biily hwy will be hard to open too, needs to broken from top down i'd guess.
