White Mountains - Steese access - Trail condition?

#1 Post by hvhavel »

I'd like to do a run over towards Quartz Creek trail - but was wondering what kind of condition it is in - this is the Steese Hwy mile 37 access point to the White Mountains area.

Anyone been out there lately?

Thanks!

Typo me thinks, did you mean "57" mile Steese AKA US Creek to Nome Creek road.

Per BLM's last report, which is a month old, those should be in fair shape. Although I do know the run over US Creek Road can get really wind blown and we've had lots of wind lately. :) BLM updates are at

3 of us went to the 28 mile trailhead ...sunday,, weather was great nice and sunny . a bit warm at 39 to 44 ... a few people also were out ,,, the first mile is going to be bear soon as we saw a bit o; dirt on the way in,,, the rest of the trail was HARD fast and the further back u go the more bumps you get ,,, the OVERFLOW IS BAD we did make it to the river and most of the way was good...
tried to get to windy gap but had enough of the bumps
it might make 2 weekends 1 for sure...

Sounds like the Apr 10th run to Windy Gap won't make it.
