flat rider safety program

#1 Post by mit »

Dear Alaska Snowmachine Clubs,

BLM-Alaska and The Student Conservation Association are hosting a contest to promote safe snowmachine and ATV riding practices. You may be familiar with Flat Stanley, a traveling paper-thin boy that has become a popular school project (https://www.flatstanley.com/about). Well meet Flat Rider, Stanley’s Alaskan cousin! We’re asking people to print out Flat Rider and take an awesome picture of the themselves and their new paper-friend during their next snowmachining adventure. They just have to make sure they're being safe and responsible riders! Then if they send us the pictures via Facebook, Twitter (@BLMAlaska), or email (blmalaska@blm.gov), we will enter them into our prize drawing for some great prizes donated by Cabela's. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to have an important conversation about safety with their young riders.

Please advertise this contest within your club! Attached to this email is a flyer along with two black-and-white versions of Flat Rider for kids to color in and personalize. There are also downloadable color versions on the BLM-Alaska website (http://www.blm.gov/ak/st/en/prog/akcttm.html). This contest is great for kids, but we hope to get adult participation as well!

We know it's kind of late in the season, but it's never too late to spread the safety message!

Thank you so much for your help with this.

Cheers,

Laura Vachula
