I have one at the house and use it every year.

It was the clubs design from way back when.

An updated one would be nice to have, I especially like the leveling drag in your link

Friends and relatives have purchased and sold and re-purchased several new utility machines in the past few years and I'll try to list them:

09 and 10 Skandik WT 550 fan - The only flaw we ever found with them is the 550 fan motor is a gas hog. Typical 4-5 MPG. Otherwise these were great machines. Pulled drags, 16 ft logs stacked 4 x 4 on a trailer, and several snowmachines, one even pulled a bearcat AND a crotch-rocket at the same time for about 15 miles.

2013 (might be 2012) Skandik WT 600 eTec - When it is running, it has been a great machine. User could not get it started at -20 as he had not put the OPTIONAL pull starter on ($280 option) and the electric start didn't work. About a week later it sprung a leak in the liquid cooling, back to the shop... Another friend bought one and had it for about 2 weeks before he took it back because he didn't like the storage options. Not much under-seat storage, not many options for the rack available yet. After turning it in, he purchased an 09 Expeditions WT 4 stroke.

09 Expedition WT, I believe it has a 600 ACE 4-stroke. I drove this machine and was impressed with its low-end torque. I went to rev the engine up just a little and the sled started moving immediately. It has a lot of storage options including under seat. Fuel economy is around 24 MPG!! The only complaint I think I could come up with is if you get it on its side, it is very difficult to roll back by yourself. Of course, most of the utility WT machines are that way. The owner hauled out a load of logs with very little problems. He routinely connects up 2 sleds behind it, typically one is full of fuel and the other is food and gear.

I can probably get better reviews out of them if you like.

Well Darby's called.

Cylinder is messed up - same as last time - donno if the same cylinder or not, but they have to replace the seal and all the stuff I've already done once. Which brings us to the the cause... <drum roll please>

The oil pump is dead. :bangin:

2K to start. THINK the crank is still usable, but?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

So, are you saying that the repair lasted 1/2 mile and now they want to charge $2K to repair again? What was the cause of the first failure?

Also, Compeaus is running a sale on Tundras

that's a crappppy deal !
the shop that did the first repair should have told you or put oil into the gas for the new break in period, standard procedure for a rebuild,,,, that way the engine is protected just for that reason, then you would have noticed the zero oil consumption and wouldn't have lost the second engine, i would go talk to them
if its the outpost i have found that they don't stand behind there warranty
still it is worth fixing,,, 2 k does seem a bit high,
but it will be a new sled from Darby's
No track and engine? what's the point?

$2k seems pretty high to me, but then again, I had a machine seize a bearing to the crank just 50 miles after replacing Pistons and Cylinders due to the oil pump failing. Pistons were $100 each, Cylinders $125, crank $500, seals and gaskets, $40. Basically everything except the crank case itself. $950. I also replaced several other parts that were just getting old. Machine has 10k miles on it.

I've probably put around $1500 into that old '96 Touring. Still worth it considering the price of anything new.

I would be getting the shop that fixed the sled the first time !!!!!!
@ 1 mile and it seizes they would have to cover what ever happened
they didn't apperantly check every thing out when they had the motor out
checking any 2 stroke oil system out when there are motor issues is standard repair procedure
I would be jumping down their throat to even think that i would be spending another $ 2000.00
on the same repair after 1 one 1 one mile

Thats exactly what I was getting at.

A reputable shop would at the very least help with the repair..
