Unfortunately, it is not looking very promising for the North Star Fire Dept to be able to participate. We have several of our members that will be out of town or at other events that weekend. On the top of that, Memorial Day weekend is traditionally pretty busy for us (unfortunatley)

Hopefully we can hook up with you guys at future events this summer.

This the last post before this weekends camping trip.
Went up there tonight: road was dusty & a little bumpy, but no snow or ice in the creek.
Watch for signs to where we will be camping @ 7 mile fork in the road.
Remember to bring: warm clothes, rain gear, gloves, xtra change of clothes & mud boots,
BUG DOPE, snacks & drinks.

We also went up the compeau trail and stayed last night at colorado creek cabin. Saturday was great with the sun out all day and damp trails to keep the dust down. This morning it started pouring down rain as soon as we left, the fog and clouds were thick at the peaks. Even with the rain and mud flying, our 18 month old still had fun on the ride back.

I heard prior to this weekend that the stiles creek trail was muddy and "ill-advised" so there may be some real mud there now if anyone wants a challenge.

Good weekend,

A bit wet to say the least.

Thanks Peter and Charlie for organizing the trip.

Had a great ride Saturday and the Cache hunt was fun on Sunday, every participant won a prize.

Now the rain was a bit challenging, especially when we all had to get up at 2:30 AM to vacate camp after Nome Creek crested its banks and created a new channel right through the middle of camp. But heck, its was just another Alaskan adventure. Some pictures and video coming :)

All the credit has to go to Peter, he did all the organizing. Every year he does this camp out. Him and his wife Cindy work hard to make sure people have a fun time and lots to eat.
