MacLaren Update

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot is happening in this area, and so early in the year!

SNOW: we are getting snow!!! I know everyone is bummed about the rain, but it is snowing in this area. A foot or more of snow has fallen in the past couple of days and it is still snowing.

The rivers are finally starting to freeze over, but with the warmer temps we are seeing a bit of overflow.

The Denali Highway trail in from Paxson is in good shape, plenty of snow and it has had a good bit of traffic on it so the trail is good.

From the Cantwell side, the Denali Highway is plowed all the way past the Su Bridge due to the Air Force Recovery teams for the crashed F22. The road will remain plowed until this task is completed. This is a very difficult task they are facing and the troops will be “in the field” through Thanksgiving, working in some very adverse conditions.

On the Cantwell end people are driving out to where they stopped plowing and unloading snowmachines or dog teams there.

The Maclaren River Road Trail was started and with this fresh snow, it will have a great base.

The Seven Mile Lake Trail has been started. We were having a bit of trouble with the amount of snow fall and hitting rocks, but that certainly won’t be a problem now.

The big groomer will be up and running and on the trails around the 6th of Dec. We had the drive pumps rebuilt and Todd will be coming up too set all the pump pressures the first of the month. Can’t wait!!

It is shaping up to be a great year! Keep it safe out there and remember we all share the trails so be courteous of skiers, dog teams and broke down snowmachines!!
