Yves Leblanc from Quebec

#1 Post by drohwer »

Yves Leblanc is riding a snowmachine from Quebec to Nome and will
be in Fairbanks next week. Quite an ambitious undertaking.

His support team has asked for some help from Fairbanks. It is not
something I can help him with but perhaps someone in the club can?

I've pasted in the email I received this morning below:

Hi David,

My name is Jean-Guy Charette and I am helping my friend Yves Leblanc of 2007 Snow Odyssey http://www.snowodyssey.ca/
I saw your name in the guessbook and I would like to say thank you for your words of encouragement; it really motivates Yves in continuing his expeditions and he is looking forward in meeting people like you who are interested in this kind of venture.

I talked to Yves this morning and he has now reached Inuvik. After visiting Tuktoyatuk during this weekend, he will be returning to Dawson City and ride the Top of the World next Thursday February 8th. He will then ride from Tok to Fairbanks on Feb 9th.

Since you offer some help, I was wandering what you had in mind. Yves will be staying in Tok on Feb 8th and it would be nice if someone can ride with him to Fairbanks; if not all the way, any portion would be welcomed. A description of the path he has to follow with distances and location of services along the way would also help. In most clubs he met, there was a member who offered accommodation. So if you know someone who can offer hospitality during his stay in Fairbanks, it would be very appreciated.

From Fairbanks, Yves would like to travel all the way to Nome but only if he finds a riding partner; for security reason, he doesn't want to ride alone in that part of the country. The major sponsor of the Iron Dog race invited Yves as a special guest to the mid-race banquet in Nome on Feb 14th. I know that Mr. Craig Compeaus, the owner of the BRP dealer in Fairbanks, is also looking but has not been successful so far. So, if you know someone or a group of people who would like to be part of this great adventure, let me know.

Thank you
Jean-Guy Charette
