SnoRondy 2011

#1 Post by john »

The Rondy is set for March 12th, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

To see the overall layout for this year, open up http://www.snowtravelers.org/files/Snow ... Detail.kmz

You'll need Google Earth, which may be downloaded from http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html

It's a pretty cool birds eye view of the Rondy.

Hey John,

Nice presentation. "thumbright:

I am concerned with having the 120 track so close to the snowcross track... how much of a safety buffer/barrier will we have? Thanks!

The kudos go to Matt with borough parks and rec, he did a great job on the layout.

No problem with the 120 and snocross, although they look close in the layout, there's actually a buffer of trees dividing them.

There is a link posted under "events" on the left side of the home page to the poster for the avalanche class with contact information. If you or anyone you know rides in the mountains, this class will be a good source of information about avalanche awareness. With the snowfall we have had this year, coupled with warm weather in November and the recent winds, the chance of unstable snowpack is very high. The NAOI requests that anyone planning on attending preregister. Let's not lose any riders this year to avalanche!

For anyone who has friends or family that ride in the mountains (that doesn't just mean high marking), the upcoming avalanche awareness class will be good information. Make sure to preregister so we have an idea of how many people to expect. Information available on the link, home page.

The Snow Rondy is this Saturday 11am to 6pm at Chena Lakes. We could sure use some help in putting this event on. It's supposed to be another beautiful sunny day and we are expecting a good turnout. If anyone can lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. Just come out to Chena Lakes and find one of the board members and we can let you know where we need help. We will begin setting up at around 9am.
