Hello,
Mark Oldmixon recently will do a presentation for the Fairbanks Snow
Travelers. He mentioned the possibility of a snowmachine trip down in the
Wrangell's. I am emailing you with more information on the details of the
trip.
Essentially as follows:
-Drive down to Chistochina via the Richardson and Tok-cut-off on Sat.
March 1st.
-Snomachine/pack down a trail, camp out a night, then come head back to
Fairbanks the next day on Sunday.
-area of trail to be broken is 'Boulder Creek', it meets up with the
Copper river from Chistochina, and then heads east for ~30 miles to the
base of the Sheep glacier.
The whole premise for this trail breaking is to expedite the following
week's climbing expedition of Mount Sanford. I just want to break a trail
and come down next week and just go (if it hasn't snowed too much). I have
a snowmachine available but it isn't the best for breaking trail (Tundra II).
That is the essentially the plan. If anyone would want to come down, get
out, and do a trip themselves while maybe helping out someone else in the
process; I'd be very grateful. Or if someone would be willing to lend or
even possibly rent out a snowmachine for that first weekend in March I
would up for that as well.
I realize this is late getting out to you, but if at all possible it could
still somehow be sent out, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks and have a good one.
