Trail Maintenance Project

#1 Post by john »

The meeting was last night at 6:00 PM. It was a board meeting. Here's where were at for trail work:

CHSR to Chatanika Lodge.

We will work on this on the 25th and 26th of June.

Meet at Cleary Summit at 10:00 AM Sat., June 25th.

We need a list of those who will be there to help. The list is for Ft Knox Security, we will be traveling down the mine roads to the to point where the trail crosses the road, around the Iowa Dome area.

What we need:

1) Head Count
2) Chain Saws
3) Brushing Tools
4) Shovels
5) Tree Limb Cutters
6) Mobile Chipper (Rick to supply)
7) 2-way radios (I have at least 2 I'll bring along)

Goal, brush trail back and place trail markers as needed. If you have an ATV, it would help, if not, we can double where needed. Suggest your bring a lunch, water and bug spray. I will (hopefuly) have my camper trailer near the trail access point as a safety shack of sorts. Will also have some chairs and an outside table for breaks as needed, extra water and coffee.

Tony Martin is working on the trail markers.

Please reply ASAP for the head count tool needs.

A big thanks to all who helped......

We got about 2 and half miles of the 3+ miles of trail going up the hill. It's a lot better than it was..

I also want to give a big thank you to Fort Knox for letting pass through the mine to get better access and Rod's Saw Shop for the loan of their chipper. Even though we didn't use it, it was a great to have along, just in case.
