General Membership Meeting Notes - Feb. 16, 2011

Unofficial and off-the-cuff... Everyone missed Larry Morris and Jody. :angle: So Juan herded the meeting since he graciously accepted the VP position on the board. We discussed the 100-Mile Loop Trail and the proposed reroute of ARR tracks through North Pole. Please see John's post about this and co...

Re: Stalling out... =(

TheBearAk - This sounds like what they told me, other than they thought what-ever was wrong was likely caused by running too lean (but they weren't sure.) What would cause a ring or skirt to break? I don't know much about snowmachine maintainance, so I figure I did something wrong - and I'd like to ...

Re: Stalling out... =(

Fan cooled is correct. Phillips Recreation said they won't know the why until they open the engine up - they gave me a range from $500 to $3000 depending on what all is broke inside. I'll try to remember to ask for the parts back after I get it fixed. While I have jets, I have never ridden anything ...

Re: Stalling out... =(

Actually, I asked them about the whole oil thing - mainly because I have _never_ run her empty (or even low enough to have the light come on.) They said it was definitly not oil, rather it was running too lean (gas.) It is possible I forgot to put stabil in the tank last spring and the gas went bad....

Re: February 5-6 ride

I hiked the Jack River area early winter - and it looked like a great place to snowmachine.

Re: Sweetheart Ride

Tony, Sorry about that! Work has been crazy and email has fallen by the wayside! - and then the email back to you bounced =) While I greatly appreciate the offer, I'm... accident prone. I would feel terrible if I in any way damaged or rolled someone else's machine (even after having it fixed.) Sorry...

Re: Stalling out... =(

Said at least one cylinder is scratched up - need to take the engine apart to make sure there wasn't more damage. Could be anywhere from $500 (if it is just that one cylinder, which he seems to think it is) to $3000 ($3k is very very worst case.) And as much as I hate it, unfortunately I have some o...

Re: Stalling out... =(

Ended up being engine related - so it looks like my snowmachining season is done early this year...

Ah well, there is always next season.

Re: Stalling out... =(

Thank you all for your offer of help! The more I thought about it, the more I'm concerned with the fact that the track locked up that first time it stalled and am taking it in for a look-see. Better safe than sorry.

I really do appreciate it!

Hope to see some of you this Saturday!

Re: Stalling out... =(

3 years old Arctic Cat Bear Cat - fan cooled, two stroke - couple hundred miles on it. Wish I had access to a garage, but I don't. It is on the wish list. If I had a garage I'd have probably already ruled out if it was frozen lines. Is there a way to get rid of ice in the lines without a garage or h...

Stalling out... =(

So my sled stalled out on today's ride and I had to be towed back. Figured it was ice - so I brought her home and hair-dried her (to warm the lines up) . She starts rough, but will stay started until she is put under load. I jacked up the back and just ran her stationary - she required more and more...

Re: January 8th ride?!

The Chena Pump boat landing is obvious... right? I've never been there and figure to take Chena Pump road till I find it.

How far out of town is it (time?)

Feb. 19th to March 10/11th, I believe - the end date is variable by weather.

Crapola - I don't have a permit for this year. I'll try to get one today.
