Re: Paxson Lodge
They tried charging us $10 a night, but my friend protested as she was told $5, they reduced it to $7 a night. My first trip from that end into the Tangle lake area where we were staying in a cabin. The trip in wasn't all that bad, a little bit of wind and not real cold. That night the wind kicked u...

Re: Jack it up
Not really sure. I think a shovel might be a better idea and multi-purpose.

Re: chena lakes to CHS
Ended up taking two different rides today. First one was just to get my Touring sled out and run it for a while. Hasn't ran since Christmas. I just went and buzzed around Chena Lakes. What a comfy sled that one is (1996 Skidoo Touring E 380). The second trip my step son called my son and asked if he...

Re: chena lakes to CHS
You mean even if I go there to, say, eat and soak, I can't park on their land? Hmm, I thought they encouraged snowmachiners.

chena lakes to CHS
I'm thinking about a trip from the Chena Lakes area, following the Quest trail and end up in Chena Hot Springs. My question is, are there any gas stations along the way anymore? Haven't been out that way in several years. I'm figuring the trip is about 75 miles, which I could make a round trip on my...

Re: looking for suggestions from the locals
Pikes is a good starting point. Typically you can take the river down to the mouth and then hit the flats from there. With all this warm weather, I'm not sure how good the river is though.

Re: Great weather....who wants to ride
This made me think of my step-son. He got the state contract to groom a bunch of trails, mostly in the Chena Hot Springs area. He told me that "it gets lonely out there" So if you see a guy on a 2013 Skidoo Skandik Super Wide pulling a drag, stop and say hello.

Re: Needed:old track
I had a trailer that had no title to it so I made a bill of sale with the serial number on it and had my buddy sign it. Took the bill of sale down and was able to title and register it just fine, no questions asked. What is funny is that I had modified and painted the trailer before this and the ser...

Spark Plugs
My Touring E was going through plugs like crazy. I use to always buy the NGK BR9ES, standard plug for most 90's Skidoos, Cats, and even Polaris. One winter I went through 6 sets of plugs on the Touring E (about 800 miles total). The worst part about it was that I'd be riding along and then all of a ...

Re: Route Advice - N.P to Fox via Pipeline
Long trip, but possible. If you want to take the dike system and possible the Tanana river. Then go all the way to Chena Pump Road and then ditch bang up to the highway. Lots of room in the ditches and well beaten down. You can hit some back roads (most are snow/ice covered and only rocked at inters...

Re: Salcha River ride
There is a winter trail that takes off from the gas station just past the river. River riding is hit or miss really. It can change, specially with warmer weather.

Just an oddity. Each page of the gallery has 12 images, but when I click on a picture in the gallery, it zooms in, and at the bottom it says "1 of 24" When I hit NEXT it says "2 of 24" at the bottom, but it is a duplicate of the previous. Hit next again and it goes to 3 of 24, an...

Take the Helm..et
I've owned and use an HJC Airtech 2 full faced helmet for a long time and was thinking about getting something a little more updated, mostly because the shields are getting harder and harder to find. What type of helmets does everyone like, keeping in mind the type of riding you do most? Meaning, ra...

Re: Needed: small trailer
I was looking at a small utility trailer to fit my needs, but not quite what I want. If you find a way, I'd be interested in what you come up with. My need is more for moving machines in and out of the garage. When it is cold out, I like to park my truck in the garage, and there is no room for a sno...
