Re: Local - inside Fairbanks area trails

Quick note on the bike trails. In the Winter some of the Bike Trails are fair game for snowmachines, but some are not. They should be well marked. Always use caution when using them. There are many pedestrians and skiers. Also be aware that dog mushers also use many different trails. Something to lo...

Re: Summit is officially open for buisness

Best to go with someone who knows the area.. You can get switched around pretty quickly in the mountains. There are some "trails". More like paths people commonly take. ha ha. Like all along phelan creek , which I suppose is covered by saying "pipeline". Some people will park at ...

Re: How much snow is enough snow?

I agree with it all depends on what you ride and what type of riding you do.

1985 Tundra, I'll drive on damp grass. Summit with 1 3/4" paddle, wait until at least 8" for basic trail riding, and at least 12" for playing in the fields.

Seat covers

I've taken a look at seat covers for my 1995 skidoo summit and 1996 skidoo touring E and it looks like saddleskin makes one that typically cost around $111-120. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they made out of decent vinyl that would not crack at at -20? Also looking at material and ...

Re: Annual Clean Snowmobile Challenge

Tough to find pictures or videos. Most of the pictures are of the machine in motion, which means it looks like just about any other factory snowmachine.

Like to see more about the engines and suspensions they are trying out.

Re: New drive system

These guys have been around for a few years now, wonder how the development is coming along. http://www.youtube.com/user/RNDInnovators Few issues I would be curious of are how much added weight, and it looks like there is a dual-chain system to get the power back there...more chains, uhg. The issue ...

Re: Stalling out... =(

I went back and re-read the messages and I'd bet that it had nothing to do with overheating. But rather a ring or skirt broke. I've had machines break the piston skirt. It acts like it is seizing, but once the debris is gone (typically spits out the exhaust in small chunks). It will turn over and ev...

Re: Stalling out... =(

This really sounds strange. Typically this happens because of lack of oil. What size motor is that? I just got through rebuilding a 370 and it really wasn't that difficult. Parts online are about 1/3rd the price. Depending on how scratched up the cylinders are and what they are made of, they may be ...

For future reference: swapping the carbs would have told you if it was in the carbs or someplace else.
