We went on a short ride yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, unloaded at the Circle trail head and rode into Chatanika lodge for an early dinner. The trail to the ditch will hold for another week, but the hill to the ditch is bare, or is by now. snow is waist deep along the trail, but is SOFT....

There is no way to resolve what happened, if the system can be repaired before it is needed again it would be great.

I for one am very pessimistic however. I have has quite a few dealings with the State LEO's and there has not been one that was positive, ever.

Its hard to comprehend that you can be in the middle of the Brooks range and push a button on a red box and get assistance, but a phone call to 911 EMERGENCY yeilds nothing but greif

No, the problem is the Troopers were not willing to ask for assistance. They didnt even ask if it was outside the borough. And Im not sure it was. Whenever I go "away from people" I carry the SPOT personal locator beacon. its not 100%, but it does add a level of comfort.

A lot depends on your particular riding style. For trail riding I really like my B2VS from Skidoo. very warm, great visibility, the tinted inner shield is great for the sun. Yep, he gave "ditch banging" a whole new meaning.
